Hey gang, A discussion with a nice skunktaur online has brought up an interesting topic. How does this sound: ask a AAL character a question! In other words, instead of me or Brooke explaining about them in third person, the characters themselves will answer any questions. So, if you wish to ask an AAL character any question, here's your chance! Just try to keep is civil and PG, please.

My first set of questions.
Ally: The magician's outfit. What made you come up with that for your battle attire? Besides looking completely awesome in it of course.
Sheila: Where you into punk before you met your husband?
Reece: You seem to be the friendliest and most outgoing of the group. Do you have any friends among the mortals outside of your enchanter partners and their and your hubbies?

Ally: "Nice to hear from you Kaotix! I must confess that I got the idea for a magician's outfit because of a comic book character I like, Zatanna, dresses this way. I specialize in illusion magic spells, so I kind of took this stage persona and ran with it. I'm not 100% sure myself why I like dressing up for battle while Sheila and Reece basically go in whatever they're wearing at the time, but I guess it gives me a psychological boost. And yes, the fact that I look fabulous in it certainly helps."
Sheila: "I swear, I'm going to steal that hat of hers, it's great. Will bought that outfit for her as a Halloween costume, but she fell in love with it.
Okay, no, I wasn't into punk, Will turned me onto that. Well, I've always been fairly rebellious as an Enchanter, and was attracted to various counterculture movements of different ages, be it the Dark Romanticism period of the early 1800s, the Bohemian movement in the late 1800s and then the beat and hippie movements. But something about those idealogies never really appealed to me. They seemed very soft. Punk just sort of fit my personality more. First time I heard "The Ramones" I was hooked. But it wasn't until I met Will that I started to dress this way. Heh, my dad does NOT like the spiked collar thing, I can tell you that. But he still thinks I look cute."
Reece: "That's because you are cute! He is right about the collar though, makes you look like a dog."
Sheila: "Quiet, you berzerko Barbie doll!"
Reece: "Hehe! My family has a reputation for being clowns and such, so I that sort of helps explain my personality. I like mortals and have some a few friends. The only problem is, well, when you're pushing 270 years, it's hard to get too attached. But, I've only really been on Earth the last few decades, and I've started making some good friends.
My friends Kim and Ashley are really tied into fashion, which is a plus since everyone back home just wears togas and gowns. It's the downside of belonging to a race that feels fashion achieved its highpoint 2,500 years ago."

We all know what the guys' favorite movie is. What are your favorite movies, gals?
And Reece, Kaige says you don't look a day over 220.

Ally: "Oh, I'm a Disney sort of person. Classic or modern animation, they're both great! If I have to pick one, I'd say... Lady and the Tramp. I know, a girly answer, I'm a romantic at heart." Sheila: "In other words, a wuss." Ally: "Quiet, before I quadruple slug you..." Sheila: "Heh. For me, it's Repo Man. I mean, the soundtrack on that thing! Iggy Pop, Black Flag and Fear! Wow! And Emilio Estevez is a cutie. I almost buy him as a punk, heh, almost." Reece: "I love Clueless! Alicia Silverstone was cute and I like all the fashions, it helped define that part of my character. Nick can't stand the movie, but I like to remind him it was directed by the same woman who who also helmed Fast Times at Ridgemont High, so that always shuts him up."

Ally: "I'm a reader by nature, I enjoy a good book. Peter and I share similar interests in subjects, so I enjoy hanging out with him of course. When visiting home, I enjoy trying out new things from other realms. Plus, I like table tennis. I have a great backhand. Two of them, actually." Sheila: "This look isn't just for show, I love the rock and roll scene. I attend all of Will's local gigs. I'm also a practicing martial artist and am learning how to use mêlée weapons. I'm pretty deadly when quadruple armed with nunchucks." Reece: "Shopping! Shopping! Did I mention shopping? Also, I enjoy the outdoors and like to go jogging. I try to stay up with the latest fashions and pop culture, which annoys Ally and Peter since they have such disdain for flash-in-pan celebrities."

What is this "magic" stuff, and how come you Enchanters are able to do/use magick when no other furries can?

Ally: "I can answer the part about why we can use magic and other can't. Our ancestors came into contact with some magical material a long time ago, and exposure to this material granted them magical powers. They were no different then the rest of the mortals, they just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I believe it was some sort of meteor that collided with the Earth some time ago.
"As for what magic is, I'm afraid I can't help you there. Most Enchanters don't even have an answer for that, and the ones who do claim to know are basically just spouting out theories."
Sheila: "I don't put that much thought into it, I just like to watch things go boom! Heh, maybe that makes me a lesser person, but I just sort of accept it as is."
Reece: "I believe what we call magic is the transfer of some undefined form of energy from one form to another. Basically, our bodies act as energy storage units, sort of like batteries. I think we probably have special glands in our body that produce a special kind of electricity, sort of like bioluminance, that allows up to generate the energy necessary to transmogrify material from one form to another, a kind of alchemy that allows us to alter particles at the quantum level into a form that we desire.
As for how we can control this, I think whatever magical properties that original changed our bodies probably altered the parietal and occipital lobes in our brains in order to allow us to recognize and discern certain data and natural phenomenon that mortal brains are incapable of recognizing. We probably have some sort of filter in place to filter the information and prevent us from going mad from sensory overload.
I'm not 100% certain, however, just what the exact biometrics are that allow us to act as magical transducers or just what the proper purpose magic provides to the universe and it's role in the entropy of universal cosmic balance."
Ally:: "..."
Sheila:: "..."
Reece: "What?"

That was a very interesting answer there, Reece. o.o I thought Ally wa the smart one.
Here's a good one about your world. Is there like a black or regular market for things from the mortal world on your world? Like clothes, jewelry, entertainment items, accessories, or the like? Or do the people of your world as a whole not particularly care about anything the mortal world has?

Ally: "You actually touched on one of the pet peeves I have about my home world. Yes, we do appropriate technologies and fashions from other worlds, Earth most of all because of our emotional attachment to it. But members of our society can in one breath say how much they like the newest technical doo-dad from Earth and then turn around and badmouth mortals like they're bugs who are so far beneath us.
Basically, what happened was this: our society isn't really known for developing things, and the reason why is because we're so powerful and practically immortal, we don't really have much motivation to create new things. You've heard the expression 'necessity is the mother of invention,' right? Well, just how motivated do you think we were to create things like long range communication or transportation systems when we can basically teleport anywhere we want? The answer: not really.
Know what all-power beings do all day? Nothing. Well, not exactly, but we Enchanters for the most part basically just spend our time lounging about, having our every need provided to us. And because we don't really need anything, it kind of saps the creativity right out of us. If we were subject to issues such as starvation, civil rights, warfare and limited amounts of resources, we would be more likely to want to stay on the ball and keep creating things. As it is right now though, we're too content of a society to need to break a sweat over anything. Oh sure, there are some Enchanters who are technically oriented, but most of our society is very passive and perfectly happy in their hedonistic lifestyle.
And since we don't create anything, we basically swipe ideas and inventions from other societies. We're a very spoiled, entitlement-oriented society that way, and we really haven't done anything to earn the level of comfort we have. Which is why I get so mad when I hear my parents or others make fun of mortals, because I know despite your faults, you do the best you can and that's very admirable in my book.
Please understand, I love my family and my people. They just irritate me sometimes."
Sheila: "I used to share my parents and most other Enchanters' views about mortals. Heh, I'm going to use the typical liberal excuse and just blame it on me being a product of my environment. It wasn't until I spent a little time on Earth that I began to appreciate mortal culture."
Reece: "I've always liked new things, so I guess that's why I've always been more open-minded toward mortal society. You guys are just so creative, I constantly want to see what you come up with next!"

Ally, you said your specialty in magic is illusion. In what way do you usually perform illusion spells?
Sheila and Reece, what are your specialties in magic and how do you usually use them when in a fight or even when no one is around?

Ally: "I can use deception and misdirection, such as creating illusions for a short period of time. This can either be for distraction or to lead a dimwit for a short period of time." Sheila: "I tend to use brute force, so my spells are a little more violent in nature. Expect fire and explosions from me, when necessary. Knowing me, they're always necessary. " Reece: "While I don't specialize in a kind of magic for combat (though I can do the basics pretty well), I do have limited psychic abilities that come in handy from time to time. That might explain why I'm so scatterbrained. My mind can be five minutes in the future!"

Calpurnia, what was your reaction to the news that Ally had fallen in love with a mortal?
And, Ally, how did yo break the news to your mom?
Reese and Sheila, since we haven't seen your parents, how did they react to you getting married to Nick and Will?

Calpurnia: "Do I really have to do this? And with a stinky dragon at that? Oh very well...
Well, Kaotix, to say I was shocked was an understatement. I mean, I laughed at first because I thought my little princess was joking. I mean, how could she be serious? A foolish, lowly mortal?
My husband made me bite my tongue during our meetings with Peter. I felt utterly disgusted. I had to hide my beautiful lower arms, wear gaudy mortal outfits and pretend to care about concerns like politics and entertainment.
I thought it was a mistake then, and still think so now."
Ally: "Oh mom, if you only knew... bah, not worth it.
I kind of eased into the big revelation, letting mom know I found someone I was happy with and that I hoped she liked him too. She thought I was talking about this obnoxious cheetah Enchanter she tried to set me up with, but I'd rather eat glass that spend any more time with him.
I finally broke it to her and dad at dinner. I said that I had been living on Earth for some time, and found someone I really loved. Mom was livid, and dad seemed to be gripping the table with all four hands as I told them. That was the start of many arguments with my folks about Peter. I went home crying that evening."
Sheila: "My dad took it okay. Too okay, if you ask me. He has a very patronizing view of mortals. He thinks its okay to have some fun with them for a while, and then take off. I can tell he likes Will, but its kind of like the way mortals like a puppy. It makes me uncomfortable for him to think I think of Will the same way he does.
My mother left when I was young. I don't know her."
Reece: "My parents are, well, like me. I had it better of then Ally or Sheila when it came to breaking the news to my folks, but I get the vibe that they really don't care that much one way or another. I could have married a bowling ball and they still would have been cool with it."
