We'll be joining dragon heroes Kaige and Kiley in a slice-of-life story about a typical day on the job for them.
Nothing plot-altering, just a chance to spend some time with some of the lesser exposed characters in the story. Going forward, the comic will spend time with minor characters to help flesh them out. Hope you enjoy this!

As you can see, Kaige and Kiley defy the emotionless, stoneface stereotype for bounty hunters / mercenaries. They are actually quite loving and friendly as long as you are on the right side of the law.

Indeed, K&K are about the nicest soldiers of fortune you'll run across. Today, we get a small glimpse of the organization employing K&K. Vex is their case worker, and he's a supervisor to them and several other groups of dragon bounty hunters operating in the group. The organization is structured as a co-op, where the bounty hunters are free to take jobs offered them from their highers ups or go out on their own as "adventurers." If they take an assignment, they get to keep 50% of the payment and the remaining percentage will be split up between their case worker and the overall dragon corps. If they go off on their own, they get to keep 100% of their loot. There's advantages and disadvantages to both situations. Obviously, the overall pay for an assignment is less then it would be if they went out on their own. Dragons are still free to set the price for a job for an assignment, as long as they clear it with headquarters first. The advantage of this scenario is that they're representing a recognized organization and will given legitimate jobs to do. When working freelance, they're free to keep whatever they make, but there's greater risk that the person employing them might double cross them or rip them off. And of course if they're out treasure-hunting, they might not get anything at all. Plus, if you end up working for a despot and do something that harms innocents, you'll find that the dragon corp won't come calling on you anymore. Getting assignments means less overall money but at least it's steady assignments and the case worker comes to you instead of you having to search through all the classified sections or other means. You're also guaranteed a paycheck, either from the client or in the rare occasion when someone who hires the dragon corp and reneges on a deal, the organization will cover the dragon bounty hunters' losses. Obviously, it not a good idea to hire the dragon mercenary service and not pay, because it leaves a black mark on your record in the magic community. Plus, they're within their rights to swipe an amount equal to what you owe them from your properties.

And getting a bunch of combat experienced dragons upset at you isn't a wise career move anyway.

Today's comic was more or less just a chance to see Kaige and Kiley in flight. One thing I just don't understand is fiction that features winged characters but never actually shows them flying! What good are wings if you don't use them? Plus, Kiley looks cute in flight.

Agreed. Dragons should be shown flying more.
And Nicole did such a good job on showing them flying.
Kaige and Kiley love flying. It's one of their favorite pastimes.

I would hope all dragons enjoy flying. Except lazy ones. We meet our villain today, another victim of the subprime crisis...

Lucky he wasn't hiding out in a labyrinth. I hardly think Our (winged) Heroes would even be inconvenienced by a labyrinth... Suffering townsfolk: "He attacks from a secret HQ hidden deep within a diabolical maze that none of us have been able to solve!" Kiley: "Maze?" [shrug] "Whatever..." [Kiley and Kaige take to the air, and do an aerial survey of the aforementioned maze] Kaige: [pointing to a particular spot in the maze] " There he is! Let's get him!" [the two dragons rain hot death on the minotaur from above -- i.e., strafe him with dragonflame -- until he surrenders] Kiley to no-longer-suffering townsfolk: "Here you are!" [hands over subdued minotaur] "Now, about that gold bullion..."

Kaige: "I knew watching all those Batman: The Animated Series episodes would come in handy some day."
Batman beat the Riddler's maze this exact way in one ep. He went up and over the walls.

Not just that, Batman commandeered the "Hand of Fate," a giant flight robot hand, making some sort of statement about how he is not limited to other people's rules when it comes to fighting crime....

Much like Happy Fun Ball, you must not taunt dragons. It's just not proper, dear boy...

Kiley demonstrates the advantages of an aerial attack. And Dagg just won't learn his lesson. Stupid cow.
