Plus Kirk got his butt kicked for 9/10ths of the movie by nearly everyone and yet still had crowning moments of awesome.

Heh, you know, yeah, I didn't really pick up on how badly Kirk was getting beaten for most of the movie, even though it was blatantly there, because he was so cocksure even when getting slapped around that everyone else's beatings on him seemed like Pyrrhic victories. It also nice to see Kirk not be invincible.

Know what I watched intentionally last weekend? Twilight. Yes, THAT Twilight. I had to see it for myself. Now mind you, I didn't go out of my way to see it. It was on Showtime, so I figured what the hey.
It was every bit as horrible as a I had heard. Yeah, porn for 14 year old girls... The part what-his-face started sparkling in the sun and insert-girl's-name-here started commenting that he looked beautiful... my god man, that's a freaking vampire!
Danger! Don't you understand that word? DANGER! Do not make friends with the blood-sucking thing!

Kind of scaring me with your viewing choices there, Letch. Can you throw in a Care Bears movie or something?

Watched "Red Rock West" over the weekend for the first time. A very good modern film noir movie. Nicholas Cage is very good as a drifter who wanders into a serious of strange goings-on in a small Wyoming town. And a big thumbs up to Dennis Hopper for his awesome role.

Ah yes, the 1980s, when there would be anthology television shows released that were completely unrelated to the horror movies they were spun off from! Creepshow beget "Tales from the Darkside" (which in a twisted example of circular logic had it's own movie) and "Monsters." Nightmare on Elm Street beget "Freddy's Nightmares" and Friday the 13th beget "Friday the 13th: The Series."

Watched a very bad blaxploitation movie the other night called "Brotherhood of Death." It's one of the rare films that *tries* to say something socially relevant, but the movie is just so boring that even the action finale seems undercooked. It doesn't help that the nominal good guys of the film are fairly unsympathetic, even given all the crap they have to put up with.

I just saw Fantastic Planet this morning. It's a French 1970s animated science fiction. Here is a trailer of the film for those who may be interested (or just curious)... www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgCxCZNkQ9E

I've heard of Fantastic Planet. Have to watch it sometime. Last night, I just watched Black Dynamite. It was hysterical! If you have any appreciation for 1970s Blaxploitation movies, watch it! You won't be disappointed.
