Sheila's father Patricius is a bit of a world traveler, though not always for the most noble reasons. He's much more open to mortals and more laid back then Ally's mom Calpurnia, so that's a point in his favor.

It appears he can read minds...
That probably sucked for Sheila as a kid.

Enchanters are innately magickal, with all kinds of funky powers -- of course they can read minds! The only question is whether or not they choose to do so at any given time... right, Darkwing?

While it's true they're innately magickal, this is more along the lines of the older they get, the more powerful they become. The girls can't read minds... yet. As they get older, their powers will improve.
The thing that makes the Enchanters interesting, at least from storytelling point of view, is that they're some of the most powerful beings in this universe, but they mainly keep to themselves and don't do much to either help or harm the general state of things.

And I guess if one of them tries to upset things, the others will smack him down?

Indeed. The girl's activities, while frowned on by most of the Enchanter establishment, are still tolerated since for the most part it's been confined to one backwater planet. The minute their activities start having *cosmic* consequences, expect them to be summoned before the board.

Well they aren't so much upsetting things really. It's just that they are trying to keep other magical beings or beings from other planets from upsetting things.
The girls are actually trying very hard to keep Earth status quo.

Indeed the girls are keeping things status quo on Earth. But the Enchanters have a sort of love-hate relationship with Earth. They like all the doodads that come from there, but not so much the people. Sheila, Ally and Reece on the other hand DO like mortals, making them sort of black sheep for the culture. Pat also likes mortals, but not for such noble reasons as the girls.

It's funny seeing Pat with an Aussie accent. I guess his being absent for long chunks of her childhood accounted for Sheila's more neutral American voice.

Alternately, what if he acquired the accent only recently, sometime during the past few decades?

That's wholly plausible... Pat also shows that not everyone who likes you understands you. He's probably one of the more even-keeled members of the Enchanters when it comes to mortals, but I wouldn't want him representing me in a court of law.

Today we see some of Pat's views pushed to their limits. He can be downright prejudice when he wants to be. What can Sheila do about it though? Other than continue being with Will, happy, and therefore being living proof that her father and other Enchanters are wrong.

See now, Pat isn't such a bad guy now, is he? Despite his flaws, I still see Patricius as being one of the good ones in this story.

So, that's Pat. Again, not a bad person per se, though he does need to learn a few more lessons about tact and decency.
